POCATELLO — Save the date April 1, no fooling, to attend the Medicine Ball dance, dinner and dessert-tasting that will benefit the Idaho State University Family Medicine Residency Program. The event features a variety of dining and dessert options for patrons, as well as four bands that will play music.
The Medicine Ball will be held at Holt Arena. Participants can choose to show up for dinner at 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., dessert at 8 p.m. or dancing at 9 p.m. — or participate in all three activities if they choose.
Proceeds from the ball will support the ISU Family Medicine Residency Program and graduate medical students working in Pocatello with ISU and Portneuf Medical Center.
Dinner will be served at two locations in Holt Arena. The first is in the “Canopy’s Restaurant” operated by Chartwell’s. Under a celebration tent up to 500 guests will enjoy a special meal prepared and served by Chartwell’s. Dinner tickets for “Canopy’s Restaurant” are $100 and include dinner, a 6 p.m. social hour, dessert and dancing.
The second dinner location is the “Tavern on the Turf,” which will feature “a taste of the town” restaurant sampling. At this casual bistro, up to 1,000 guest will sample a variety of finger foods from about 25 to 30 of Pocatello’s diverse restaurants, cafes, delicatessens and pizzerias. The cost of the buffet beginning at 6:30 p.m. is $35 per ticket, and includes admission to the dance.
For those who don’t want to attend dinner, dessert will still be available. “Cookies Place” will offer rows of dessert tables offering sweet treats. Tickets at $10 each will be sold at the door at 8 p.m.
The dance, beginning at 9 p.m., will feature four local bands including The Band on Demand, Elvis Has Left the Building, Somewhere in the Middle and Slapdash.
The masters of ceremony are Mike Sanders, The Drs. Rahim, and Howard Burnett. There will be a no-host bar and beer garden.
